Health & Wellness Programs

Natural Health Initiatives

The school’s first aid box represents a unique experiment in natural healthcare. Instead of conventional medicines, it contains tea powder, turmeric, alum, fennel, sugar, and ajwain. Children receive treatment through naturopathy, learning about natural remedies and their applications. This approach has reduced dependence on chemical medicines while educating students about traditional healthcare practices.

Observing irregular attendance due to various minor health issues, I initiated comprehensive health checkup programs conducted more than twice annually. These detailed examinations include:

  • Complete eye examinations for all students with free spectacles for needy children
  • Dental checkups with proper treatment and care
  • Hemoglobin testing for all students
  • Iron and folic acid tablets for children with low hemoglobin
  • Thalassemia and ferritin tests for children with hemoglobin below 7

Special attention is given to nutrition education. Separate meetings are conducted for mothers of students where they receive practical demonstration training on how to provide nutritious food to children. Healthy food seminars are organized regularly to address malnutrition and promote balanced diets. This comprehensive approach has significantly improved student health, resulting in better attendance and academic performance.

Girl Child Education & Hygiene

Recognizing the importance of girl education and hygiene, I have implemented several groundbreaking initiatives. The school has separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls, ensuring privacy and comfort. For girls in grades 6 to 8, a sanitary pad vending machine and incinerator were installed with support from donors, making the school one of the pioneers in menstrual hygiene management.

Key initiatives for girl students include:

  • Free sanitary pads provided to all girl students from school resources
  • Separate sanitation facilities ensuring privacy and dignity
  • Special projects ensuring regular presence of girl students
  • Support programs for higher education opportunities

These initiatives have dramatically improved girls’ attendance, particularly during menstruation periods when many girls traditionally stayed home. By addressing this basic need with dignity and normalizing conversations about menstrual health, the school has created an environment where girls feel comfortable and supported. This has contributed to the overall increase in school enrollment and retention of girl students through higher grades.
